On September 23, the University of Science (HUSC), Hue University, had the meeting with Professor Rupak Kharel, Associate Dean and Professor of Cyber Security, University of Huddersfield, UK.
Accompanying Professor Rupak Kharel were Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Tram, Head of Student Recruitment at the University of Huddersfield, and Mr. Hoang Anh Tu, Head of Business Development at Index.
From HUSC, there were Assoc. Prof. Tran Ngoc Tuyen, Vice-Rector; Dr. Tran Thanh Luong, Head of the Undergraduate Education and Student Affairs Office; Dr. Tran Thi Phuong An, Vice Head of the Office for Science, Technology, and International Relations; and leadership representatives from the faculties of Biology, Chemistry, Electronics Electrical Engineering and Material Technology, Information Technology, and Architecture.
The University of Huddersfield is ranked 54th nationally (according to The Guardian 2022) and is recognized as one of the UK’s top universities for high-quality education, with programs that focus on practicality and application. The university consistently receives high satisfaction ratings from its students and has been awarded the “Best New University for Quality Education” by The Times Higher Education Supplement.
During the meeting, the two universities discussed developing a collaborative 3+1 Top-up program on Information Technology, Telecommunications and Electronics, Biotechnology, Architecture, and Chemistry.
The 3+1 Top-up program is equivalent to the final year of a Bachelor’s degree in the UK. It is a common model in the European education system, allowing Vietnamese students to complete three years of university or college in Vietnam and then transfer to a UK university to complete their final year. Students in this program will receive an international Bachelor's degree upon graduation.
Associate Professor Dr. Tran Ngoc Tuyen, Vice-Rector, suggested that the two sides continue discussions to finalize and implement this collaborative program soon. Additionally, he proposed expanding the partnership to include Master's and Doctoral programs as well as future scientific research collaborations.
