Study tour: the program of study and cultural exchange

Within the framework of the annual study tour and cultural exchange program, the Japanese student delegation from the Faculty of Global and Intercultural Studies, Ferris University had a visit and worked with the Faculty of Environmental Science, University of Sciences, Hue University.

Within the framework of the annual study tour and cultural exchange program, the Japanese student delegation from the Faculty of Global and Intercultural Studies, Ferris University had a visit and worked with the Faculty of Environmental Science, University of Sciences, Hue University.

From June 11 to June 17, 2024, the Japanese students were introduced with environmental, climate change, and socio-economic issues concerning Thua Thien Hue province through presentations delivered by lecturers from the Faculty of Environmental Science and Faculty of Sociology, and Social Works. The exchange program extended beyond the confines of the lecture hall, providing an impressive journey of practical discovery. The Faculty of Environmental Science organized field trips to facilitate the Japanese students' understanding of various issues related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Hue city, specifically:

  • Learning about the water treatment process and water quality management at the Van Nien Water Plant;
  • Experiencing the unique ecosystem of Ru Cha mangrove forest and learning about the role of the Thao Long Saltwater Dam;
  • Visiting sustainable aquaculture models at Sam Chuon Lagoon;
  • Exploring the diverse and precious ecosystem at Bach Ma National Park;
  • Enjoying the unique culture and historical beauty Hue Ancient Capital through activities such as visiting the Imperial Citadel, cruising on the Perfume River, and enjoying Hue traditional music (Ca Hue) ...

This exchange trip is considered as a useful bridge for students of both universities to learn and share professional knowledge and culture. The study tour will leave an indelible mark on each participating student, providing them with memorable, meaningful experiences and valuable lessons.

At the conclusion of the visit, Prof. Chiashi Akihiro expressed his heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the warm reception provided by HUSC and the Faculty of Environmental Science. On behalf of the Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Cong Tin, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Science, extended his sincere thanks to the Rector of Ferris University and Prof. Chiashi Akihiro. He expressed his hope for more meaningful collaborations that will further strengthen the bond between the two institutions.
