Reception of the Dean of the Graduate School of Life Sciences, Ritsumeikan University

Attending the meeting, there were also leading representative of Office for Science – Technology & International Relations, Office for Undergraduate Education and Student Affairs, Faculties of Architecture, Biology, Environmental Science and Geography & Geology.

The purpose of the meeting was to foster mutual understanding in order to develop a positive and long-lasting cooperation partnership. Both sides presented and exchanged information on the training and scientific research initiatives of their institutions.

Ritsumeikan University is one of Japan’s oldest institutions with 120 years of history. It is ranked 1st both in THE World University Rankings & THE Impact Rankings (among private universities in KANSAI Area (Western Japan)); the 4th in QS World University Rankings (among private universities in Japan). There are 4 main campuses, 16 undergraduate colleges, 22 graduate/ professional schools; 36,534 graduate and undergraduate students and 2,604 international students from over 73 countries and regions.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Rector, Dr. Phan Tuan Anh expressed his pleasure to welcome Prof. Mamoru Wakayama. Hopefully, both sides would have an in-depth discussion and achieved an agreement on the collaboration in scientific research and training, particularly with regard to understanding of student exchange program in Japan under the Sakura Science program.

The Japanese government's and Ritsumeikan University's scholarship programs were also highlighted by Prof. Mamoru Wakayama, Dean of the Graduate School of Life Sciences. He specifically introduced the training programs and list of professors of Ritsumeikan University to seek collaborative opportunities in research.
