Agreement signing ceremony with the Southern Institute of Social Sciences (SISS)
On 22 May 2026, a delegation from the University of Sciences, Hue University, led by Assoc. Prof. Vo Thanh Tung, Rector visited and worked with the Southern Institute of Social Sciences (SISS) in Ho Chi Minh City.
The delegation included Assoc. Prof. Huynh Thi Anh Phuong, Head of the Office for Science, Technology, International Relations and Library services; Dr. Tran Thanh Luong – Head of the Office for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Tran Thi Hong Minh, Dean of the Faculty of Political Theory; Dr. Tran Nhat Thu, Dean of the Faculty of Literature and Linguistics; and Dr. Nguyen Van Quang – Vice Dean of the Faculty of History.

The Southern Institute of Social Sciences (SISS) is a unit under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, with strengths in researching economic, cultural, historical, social, ethnic, religious, and sustainable development issues in the Southern region, as well as extensive experience in policy consultancy and connecting research with regional development practice. Meanwhile, the University of Sciences, Hue University, is one of the training and research institutions with more than 70 years of development, serving as a prestigious academic center for the Central region and the whole country.
Within the framework of the meeting, the University of Sciences, Hue University, and the Southern Institute of Social Sciences signed an Agreement to strengthen coordination in scientific research, training, policy consultancy, and knowledge transfer.
Representing the two units, Assoc. Prof. Vu Tuan Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Southern Institute of Social Sciences, and Assoc. Prof. Vo Thanh Tung, Rector of the University of Sciences, Hue University, signed and exchanged the Cooperation Agreement in the presence of scientists and researchers from both units.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Vo Thanh Tung expressed his pleasure at attending the meeting and witnessing the signing ceremony between the two units. The Rector emphasized that this was a significant event marking a new stage of development in the bilateral cooperative relationship, in the spirit of partnership, sharing, and maximizing the strengths of each side in scientific research, training, knowledge transfer, and community service.
Assoc. Prof. Vo Thanh Tung also noted that the University of Sciences, Hue University, always places importance on expanding cooperation with research institutes, universities, and reputable organizations to promote innovation and strengthen the link between training and social practice. At the same time, the University of Sciences highly values the role, standing, and academic prestige of the Southern Institute of Social Sciences – a leading research unit under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences with many important contributions to scientific research and policy consultancy serving national development.
The Cooperation Agreement is valid for 05 years from the date of signing, opening up many opportunities for academic connection, interdisciplinary research, and improved training quality in the coming period.
