Hue University of Sciences welcomes professors from Waseda and Tsukuba universities for collaborative opportunities

The University of Sciences, Hue University, hosted a delegation of professors from Japan’s prestigious Waseda and Tsukuba Universities for a working session aimed at strengthening academic and research collaboration on March 24, 2025.

Leading the Japanese delegation were Professor Tetsuya Yaguchi, Dr. Architect Tomoyuki Mashiko, and Dr. Keisuke Sugano. Representing the University of Sciences were Assoc. Prof. Vo Thanh Tung, Rector of the University; Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Tung, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture; and other faculty members.

During the meeting, Professor Yaguchi presented a proposal for a joint research project between the institutions. The initiative focuses on environmental planning within river basin areas, aiming to mitigate flood risks through the application of advanced technologies. The proposed approach emphasizes a delicate balance between enhancing climate resilience and preserving historical heritage.

Dr. Sugano also discussed future opportunities for academic exchange, including faculty collaboration and student mobility programs. He proposed launching a trilateral student exchange initiative among the three universities, tentatively scheduled for August and September 2025.

On behalf of Hue University of Sciences, Rector Vo Thanh Tung expressed his sincere gratitude to the visiting professors and affirmed the institution’s commitment to the proposed partnership. He emphasized that the university will work closely with Waseda and Tsukuba to develop a comprehensive research framework that aligns with the shared goals of sustainability and innovation.
