The delegation of Hue University of Sciences participated in the International Symposium on Global Environmental Studies Education and Research in Asia
International Symposium on Global Environmental Studies Education and Research in Asia was held from 13 November to 15 November 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand. This is an annual conference in the framework of multilateral cooperation projects and programs in education and research environment hosted by the University of Kyoto (Japan) and funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) as well as the Japan Society for the Promotion of Sciences (JSPS). The Symposium this year was co-organized by both Kyoto University and Mahidol University (Thailand).
Attending the Symposium in 2016, there were nearly 180 delegates from various universities from Japan, India, ASEAN (Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam), Europe (France, Italy) and others from the USA. In addition, there were also a number of companies working in the field of technology and environmental consultancy from Japan and Thailand. Hue University of Sciences had 5 representatives attending the Conference, including Dr. Nguyen Truong Tho - Head of Office for Science-Technology and International Relations, Dr. Le Van Tuan – Vice Dean of Department of Environmental Science, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Tung - Vice Dean of Architecture Department, Dr. Pham Khac Lieu - Lecturer of Department of Environmental Science and Ph.D student Dang Thi Nhu Y – Lecturer of Department of Environmental Science.
In two days 13th and 14th, many reports were presented and the topics on building and implementing the international training programs related to the environment were discussed. Besides, other subjects, such as ability of establishing international collaborative researches in the direction of “Connection between the Hills, Human being and the Seas”; relations among companies, government and universities in addressing environmental issues; experience of developing international training programs from some universities were also addressed. Hue University of Sciences has three presentations by Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Tung, Dr. Le Van Tuan and Ph.D student Dang Thi Nhu Y as well.
Through this conference, long collaborative relationships between the Department of Environmental Science, Architecture Department of the school and GSGES, Kyoto University have been strengthened and promoted.
