National conference on Engineering Geology – Geotechnical Engineering and Environment for sustainable development (VIETGEO 2023)

On September 28, University of Sciences, Hue University and Vietnam Association of Engineering Geology and the Environment co-organized the national conference on Engineering Geology – Geotechnical Engineering and Environment for sustainable development (VIETGEO 2023).

The conference participants included Prof.Dr. TSUITSUI Kazunobu - Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Regional Sciences, Tottori University, Japan - Honorary Professor of Hue University; from the central agencies and general association, there were Dr. Vu Thanh Binh – Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Ministry of Education and Training; Prof.Dr. Tran Van Tri - Vice President of Vietnam Union of Geological Sciences; Representative leaders from Quang Tri, Quang Binh and Thua Thien Hue provinces; Quang Ngai, Quang Nam and Da Nang, Hue University; Assoc. Prof. Ta Duc Thinh, Chairman of Vietnam Association of Engineering Geology and the Environment – Co-chairman of the organizing committee; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Van Lam, Chairman of Vietnam Association of Hydrogeology; Assoc. Prof. Le Van Thang, Vice Rector of University of Science and Technology, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; representative sponsors; Assoc. Prof. Vo Thanh, Rector of the University of Sciences; Dr. Phan Tuan Anh, Vice Rector and representative leaders of agencies, enterprises, departments and faculties of universities around the nation and a large number of scientists and students.

A large number of famous scholars and scientists, particularly leading geologists attended the conference to exchange ideas and knowledge on a variety of topics related to engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, and the environment.

In addition, there were many managers, scientists, experts, representatives of departments, agencies, organizations, associations, and individuals of provinces and cities across the country. Among nearly 100 reports that were examined and edited for the Proceedings, 24 scientific reports were chosen. The topics covered in the conference included engineering geology - technical geology and hydrogeology; new construction techniques and materials; geohazards and monitoring and early warning technology; Resources - environment and digital transformation; drilling and exploitation technology.

Apart from the reports presented in the two plenary sessions, there were also reports presented in two subsessions: Session 1: Construction geology – Geotechnical Engineering, construction techniques and new materials; Session 2: Hydrogeology, environment and drilling technology.
