University of Sciences, Hue University Collaborates in the Implementation of Nature-based Solutions on Campus
On the morning of January 30, within the framework of an academic exchange program on the co-creation of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) under the GreenCityLab Hue Project, the University of Sciences, Hue University (HUSC) hosted a working session and workshop with the Green Infrastructure Project with the participation of scientists, administrators, faculty members, university students, and high school students.
Addressing the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Van Hung, Vice Principal of HUSC High School for Gifted students, expressed his sincere appreciation to Mr. Fabian and the GreenCityLab Hue Project team for their trust and for selecting HUSC as one of the Project’s partners. The University highly appreciates the Project’s scientific, open, and co-creative approach, which has been consistently implemented.
The GreenCityLab Hue Project not only focuses on theoretical and academic research but also emphasizes practical application and on-the-ground implementation based on research outcomes. The University of Sciences campus as one of the two pilot sites for implementing nature-based solutions is regarded as a decision of significant scientific, educational, and social importance.
The Project’s research team has conducted site assessments, surveys, and consultations with administrators, faculty members, students, and pupils regarding functional use, architectural space, and actual needs within the selected area. At the workshop, the Project team presented the survey findings, synthesized the results, and proposed design options aligned with the Project’s criteria while effectively meeting the University’s practical needs, with students, pupils, and staff considered as the central base. The University expects to identify optimal, feasible design solutions for implementation in the near future.
On this occasion, the University of Sciences expressed sincere gratitude to Mr. Fabian and the GreenCityLab Hue Project team for their continued partnership and support, and for submitting a funding proposal to the IKI Medium Grants scheme, aimed at expanding and further enhancing the research space within the University campus. Hopefully, this proposal will be successful, creating important opportunities to advance subsequent phases toward the development of a green, climate-resilient university campus with broader societal impact.
Attending the workshop were the Rector, the Management Board, and project members of the GreenCityLab Hue Project; representatives of the Office for Planning, Finance, and Facilities; the Office for Science, Technology, International Relations, and Library; guests; and a large number of students.
The workshop was conducted in an open, dynamic academic atmosphere that promoted research collaboration and the application of nature-based solutions within the university environment.
