ICES Annual Science Conference 2011


ICES Annual Science Conference 2011 will be held in Gdańsk, Poland. The venue will be the Gdańsk Music and Congress Centre. The conference will open on Monday 19 September and close on Friday 23 September.

ICES Annual Science Conference provides a forum in which an international community of marine scientists, professionals, and students gather to share their work in theme-based series of oral and poster presentations. Each year, the Conference is hosted by one of our 20 Member Countries, and has a unique website to handle electronic submissions and registration.

Travel funds

Limited travel funds are available for early career scientists. First-time participation at the ASC is especially encouraged. To be eligible, the applicant must meet these requirements:

  • 35 years of age or younger;
  • nationality and affiliation in an ICES member country;
  • abstract submitted and registration for ASC completed.

Because funds are limited, travel support can only be partial, e.g. airfare, accommodation, subsistence. The submitted applications will be assessed on the basis of these criteria:

  • Application for partial support will be given preference, unless the contribution is outstanding;
  • Originality of work as shown in abstract;
  • Significance for one of the Theme Sessions.

Your application (short and concise) with the abstract and a short CV (Word or PDF documents) should be submitted by e-mail to the Science Programme ( by no later than
Friday 10 June 2011. Successful applicants will be notified by the end of June.
