On 14 November, Hue University of Sciences organized the international workshop on informal workers, migration and care in ASEAN in the collaboration with Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Foundation. The workshop attracted many scientists from Germany, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Philippines and Vietnam.
At the workshop, participants gave the presentations providing information and discussing hot issues: The state of untrained workers in Thua Thien Hue; Symmetric information on labour export in Vietnam - A gender approach; Non-Professional Workers in ASEAN; Social Reproduction, social security and crisis-related developments: Feminist Perspectives regarding Europe´s neoliberal restructuring; General overview of domestic helpers in Vietnam and policy recommendation; Case Study: Caring for Older persons – Issues and Challenges; Practice of Health Care for the elderly in current Vietnam rural family; Welfare for Migrant Workers; Young Migrants from Lao PDR to Thailand; Young migrant workers – Reproduction of labour power.
In the context of integration and globalization, the fact of the issues on labor competition, rights of workers in the labor moving wave in ASEAN; risks, disease of migrant workers; the impact of industrialization and vulnerable people such as women, elderly, children, disabled people, etc has put many questions to the countries in ASEAN region. As the result, the organizing committee hoped that there would be the same voice in ASEAN region through many presentations obtaining scientific values, useful information and experience sharing, contributing to the tight cooperation among countries in the region to together solve problems occurred in the development process.
