Working with representatives of USAID COMET Program in Vietnam

In the afternoon of October 6th, Assoc. Prof. Vo Thanh Tung – Vice Rector of Hue University of Sciences (HUSC) and Dr. Nguyen Truong Tho - Head of the Office for Science -Technology and International Relations had a meeting with the representatives of USAID COMET in Vietnam and other delegates from Hue Industrial College.

To start the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Vo Thanh Tung gave the warmest greetings and appreciated the possibility of cooperation between HUSC and USAID COMET.

Next, Ms. Dorothy Lutz, representative of USAID COMET, had a presentation on the general program and introduced about current partners of USAID COMET in Vietnam. The overall goal of USAID COMET is to equip education and training institutions in Vietnam with the tools they need to develop a workforce with market-driven skills; connect job seekers with high-growth industries; provide employers with skilled, work-ready graduates; promote economic development, engagement and ASEAN integration. In addition, with the total budget of 12 millions USD, Ms. Dorothy addresses that the Program will work with industry partners such as Cisco, Intel, Google and Microsoft, as well as other local employers to ensure students to receive opportunities to learn from professional leaders in the field.

Finally, both sides discussed about the cooperation between USAID COMET in the near future. The Office for Science – Technology and International Relations, HUSC will continually contact with concerned Faculties of HUSC and exchange information with COMET USAID programs to prepare for coming up collaboration.
