International conference on Social Work Profession in Emerging countries

On June 20th, the opening ceremony of the international conference on Social Work Profession in Emerging countries was held in the framework between Hue University of Sciences and California State University and The Asian and Pacific Islander Social Work Educators Association (APISWEA).

The conference attracted many researchers from international universities such as California State University, Rutgers University, Austin Peay State University (America), Griffyth University (Australia), Chinese University of Hong Kong, Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University (Thailand) togerther with many participants from national universities and organizations.

Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hien – the Rector of Hue University of Sciences had the welcome speech at the conference. He affirmed that international affairs have been continuously taken into consideration by Hue University of Sciences, particularly to improve and broaden the collaboration in the field of education, science and technology, to joint conduct the livelihood projects with institutions in Asia, Europe, America and Oceania. Of which, the Faculty of Social Work has played an important role in the international activities of the university.

This conference aimed to share research results from various countries and to discuss the experience and knowledge to improve the social work profession in Asia – Pacific Region.

Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hien believed that the conference would be successful with the participation of managers, scientists and senior researchers. He also stated that this was the opportunity for lecturers and students of Hue University of Sciences to share and learn experience from international universities. Thus, solutions and initiatives to develop social work profession would be found out according to the context of economy, politics, culture and society of Vietnam.

The conference would occur from June 20 to June 21 with 6 sessions consisting of 21 presentations on the social work profession in emerging countries including Vietnam.
