From 30 October to 31 October 2017, the International Symposium on the Education and Research of the Global Environmental Studies in Asia was co-organized in Hanoi by Kyoto University (Japan) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology. This symposium is annually organized under the host of Kyoto University and the sponsorship of some projects, multilateral collaborative programs on education and environmental study, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS).
The symposium attracted about 250 participants from universities in Japan, India, ASEAN (Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam), and Europe (France, Belgium), enterprises working in the field of technology and environmental consultation in Japan. There were 7 delegates from Hue University of Sciences including Assoc. Prof. Vo Thanh Tung – Vice Rector, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Tung – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Dr. Le Van Tuan – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Science, Dr. Hoang Cong Tin, Dr. Dang Thi Thanh Loc, Ms. Dang Thi Nhu Y – Lecturers of the Faculty of Environmental Science and a student of the Faculty of Environmental Science.
Presentations and discussions about building and implementing international training programs on environment; The possibility of building the international collaborations with the trend “Connect the Mountain, People and Sea”; Relationship between industrial enterprises, government and universities in solving environmental issues; Experiences in developing international training programs of some universities. In particular, the research results of 30 young scientists presented in the symposium were received the grant from the fund of “incubation" of the Graduate School of Global Environmental Research (GSGES) of Kyoto University. In the academic year 2016 – 2017, 5 lecturers of Hue University of Sciences received the research grants and had oral presentations including Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Tung – Faculty of Architecture, Dr. Le Van Tuan, Dr. Hoang Cong Tin, Dr. Dang Thi Thanh Loc and Ms. Dang Thi Nhu Y – Faculty of Environmental Science. Ms. Dang Thi Nhu Y’s poster was awarded excellent score.
Delegates of Hue University of Sciences enthusiastically participated in the activities of the symposium through the presentations, contributing and sharing ideas in the discussions and outside the symposium. Through the symposium, the relationship between the Faculty of Environmental Science and Faculty of Architecture of Hue University of Sciences and GSGES, Kyoto University has been tightened and developed.
