On October 19th, Vietnam Physical Society, Materials Science Society, Institute of Physics under Vietnam Academy of Science and Hue University of Sciences organized the 10th Symposium on Solid Physics and Materials Science.
Participating in the symposium, there were Prof. Nguyen Dai Hung, chairman of Vietnam Physical Society; Prof. Nguyen Duc Chien, chairman of Vietnam Materials Research Society – Head of the Organizing Committee; Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Ha, Deputy Chief of Department of Social and Natural Sciences under Ministry of Science and Technology, co-Head of the Organizing Committee; Prof. Nguyen Huu Duc, Vice President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Vice President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Dr. Do Thi Xuan Dung, Vice President of Hue University together with many scientists, lecturers as well as graduate and undergraduate students.
There were 5 sessions: Physiscs and Magnetic materials; Semiconducting Physics – Dielectric; Materials – Components; Semiconducting – Dielectric; Medical – Biological - Agricultural Materials, Energy – Environment; Magnetic Materials Physics and Superconductivity. The symposium attracted more than 300 physicists from many universities, institutes in the nation and several foreign scientists; over 100 oral presentations and 240 posters on the research results. Among 260 full papers submitted to the Organizing Committee, 40 papers were selected to publish in the Journal of Science and Technology (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), the other papers were printed in the Volume of the symposium reports.
Addressing at the symposium, Prof. Nguyen Duc Chien, Head of the Organizing Committee affirmed that the 10th Symposium on Solid Physics and Materials Science was a prestigious scientific forum attracting the consideration of Vietnam Scientific Community. This was also the opportunity for scientists to meet, exchange and popularize the latest developments in the field of solid physics and materials, organized biyearly since 1995 until now. Specially, this was also the 20th anniversary that Prof. Nguyen Van Hieu called for Vietnamese scientists who pioneered to research on science and nano technology at the national symposium on solid physics organized in Do Son in 1997.
Prof. Nguyen Duc Chien - Head of Organizing Committee made a speech
Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hien, Rector of Hue University of Sciences expressed his pleasure when Hue University of Sciences was selected to be in the coordination with the Organizing Committee to organize the 10th Symposium on Solid Physics and Materials Science in ancient Hue City. Assoc. Prof. Hien stated that this was the occasion for scientists, researchers, Ph.D students, graduate and undergraduate students in the national and international universities to exchange scientific topics, present and discuss the theoretical and experimental results, contributing to answer the big questions that physics has been facing as well as applying scientific achievements of physical issues on the cultural social-economic developments of Vietnam in particular and the world in general.
Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hien, Rector of Hue University of Sciences made a speech
This occasion was the chance for staff, lecturers, physicists in Hue to meet, exchange knowledge, academic and teaching experience with leading professors in physics in the nation, expanding the cooperation in the future. Young physicists, Ph.D students, graduate and undergraduate students would catch the opportunity to assess new research methods, comprehend the physical issues aiming to effectively serve their study and research at present and in the future.
The symposium and related activities happened from 19 October to 21 October 2017.
