On 15-16 June, 2017 at the University of Sciences, Hue University, the workshop on Advancing Social Work Practice Skills in Health and Social Care was co-organized by the University of Sciences and Pacific University Oregon (America).
Attending the workshop, there were 8 professors from universities in the United States: Dr. Paul Duong Tran, Dr. Portia Adams, Dr. Dana Elizabeth Simons, Dr. Serge Chia Lee, Dr. Todd Yeng Xiong, Dr. Bee Yang, Dr. Carmen Maianu and Dr. Bipasha Biswas; participants from Uttaraddit Rajabhat University (Thailand); Tedim Christian University (Myanmar); 4 students of Catholic University and California State University (USA); representatives from Faculty of Psychology-Education of Da Nang University of Education, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Public Health, Department of Family Medical Practice of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Sociology Department of Thua Thien Hue College of Education; representatives from Xuan Phu Center for Children, HOPE center, Tam Binh Center for Children, I Love Hue Tour, Center for Community Development & Social Work, Central Health Center, Center for Social Work Services, Hue Social Protection Center for Children, Department of Labour Invalids and Social Affairs of A Luoi district, Phu Xuan Commune (Phu Vang district), Quang Thai Commune (Quang Dien district), Thuy Bieu Ward (Hue City); Assoc. Speaking at the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hien welcomed all of the participants to the workshop and affirmed that Hue University of Sciences had continuously improved on the cooperation in education, science and technology, livelihood support projects with different international organizations in Asia, Europe, America and Oceania. In this process, the Faculty of Social Work has been playing an important role.
The workshop aimed to enhance the capacity and equip the skills of social work practice and health care for lecturers and students of universities, practitioners, and staff of social service and health organizations. This workshop would facilitate to establish the network on social work and health care training and practice among the educational and practical institutions.
Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hien was confident that the participation of leaders and high senior researchers would make the workshop helpful and interesting. He also hoped that the lecturers and students would have a good chance to share their achievements as well as to learn experience from international universities and that the collaboration between the University of Sciences and Pacific University Oregon would develop and expand other fields in which both parties are interested.

The lectures were presented at the workshop: Framework on healthy community: Assessment, design and intervention, Mental Health Assessment and Intervention, Community Organization and Service Design, Social Work Values and Leadership in Practice, Child Well-Being Assessment and Intervention, Social Enterprise for Trafficked Persons.
Through the training workshop, participants were equipped more knowledge and skills of assessment and intervention in community development, mental health care, child protection and domestic services, etc They would apply the practice skills in micro and macro level aiming at providing leadership, increasing interaction between curriculum and practical needs.
Closing the training workshop, participants were conferred the certificate of completion by the Organising Committee.
