On June 8th, the Trade Union of University of Sciences, Hue University organized the workshop “Innovation and creativity in teaching and learning – situation and solution”.
Attending the workshop, there were Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Duan, Chairman of Hue University’s Trade Union, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hien, Rector of University of Sciences, MSc. Le Duy Son, Chairman of University of Sciences’ Trade Union, Assoc. Prof. Vo Thi Mai Huong, former chairwoman of University of Sciences’ Trade Union together with more than 100 members.
At the workshop, MSc. Le Duy Son, Chairman of the university’s Trade Union delivered an opening speech and expected that each member would raise their responsibility and explore solutions to improve teaching and learning activities aiming at improving the quality of university’s training.
The workshop was organized simultaneously to encourage the administration ans service staff to report their experience, initative and creativity in the assigned tasks.
The workshop on "Innovation and creativity in teaching and learning - situation and solutions" attracted 18 reports of lecturers and staff from 9 faculties (Political Theory, Geography-Geology, Environmental Science, Journalism - Communication, Architecture, History, Physics, Chemistry, Sociology); 2 administrative offices (Educational Testing and Quality Assurance, Financial Planning and Facilities) and 01 Center (Information - Library). The reports focused on 5 main topics: improving the quality of professional work and trade union activities by University of Sciences’ Trade Union; Affirming the importance of innovation and creativity in teaching and learning; Current situation of teaching and learning at the University of Sciences; The quality of teaching and learning by doing the survey among students; Solution on innovation in teaching and learning at the University of Sciences.
5 reports were presented at the workshop: "Management solution and improving the quality of self-study and research by students" by MSc. Hoang Ky Son, Office for Educational Testing and Quality Assurance; "How to be a great lecturer in front of students at universities" by Dr. Nguyen Thi Ai Nhung, Faculty of Chemistry; "Some methods to evaluate the process of students' self-study" by MSc. Phan Anh Hang, Faculty of Geography - Geology; "Improving the quality of undergraduate degree training in Environmental Science through the alumni's survey" by MSc. Mai Ngoc Chau, Faculty of Environmental Science and "Reflecting the quality of training through students’ opinions" by MSc. Le Xuan Diem Ngoc, Faculty of Physics.
There were many contributing ideas at the workshop. Through the workshop, union members of the University of Sciences would have more precious experiences in training students. Proposed solutions were practical and feasible, the university would apply them for the better quality in teaching and learning.
