The lecturer of Faculty of Architecture, Hue University of Sciences won the Silver prize of the National Architecture Award 2016.

"Through the careful, professional and sophisticated methodology of survey, the system of thought and artistic values ​​of Hue traditional garden houses has been fully recognized in the non – stop  transformation to adapt to modern life. On that basis, solutions for the sustainable conservation of Hue traditional garden houses have been proposed. These are the scientific and practical values ​​of the book".

That is the remarks of the 2016 National Architecture Award Committee for the book received the Silver prize "Transformation and conservation of traditional garden houses in Hue citadel area, Vietnam" by Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Tung.

In the evening of April 21 2017, the Vietnam Association of Architects, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the People's Committee of Da Nang City held the awarding ceremony for works that were awarded at the National Architecture Award 2016. This is the most prestigious award in the field of architecture of Vietnam held once every 2 years in even years.

There were 120 applications in 16 categories: housing, public works, industrial projects, planning projects, architectural publications, excellent works in Vietnam by foreign architects, etc. The board of the National Architecture Award 2016 consisted of 15 members who were chosen to offer 04 gold, 13 silver and 13 bronze prizes. For the item of publications, the lecturer of Faculty of Architecture, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Tung and his co-authors (Hirohide Kobayashi of Kyoto University, Nawit Ongsavangchai of Chiang Mai University and Prof. Miki Yoshizumi of Kyoto University), won the Silver prize (no first prize) with the book “Transformation and conservation of traditional garden houses in Hue citadel area, Vietnam". It can be said that this is the pride of the Faculty of Architecture, Hue University of Sciences in particular and Hue Architecture in general.

The book has been the research result for over 10 years by the author group on the transformation of traditional garden houses located in Hue citadel area under the impact of many factors such as economic, flood, population growth, etc. Thus, the authors have proposed suggestions and solutions for the sustainable conservation of traditional garden houses in modern life.
